What can I expect after I book?

What airport do I fly into?
The main airport in Zanzibar is Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ).
You can also choose to fly into Dar es Salaam (DAR) on the mainland of Tanzania if flights are significantly cheaper. From there, it’s just a short 20-minute flight over to Zanzibar.
Do I need shots or a visa?

Vaccines: There are no mandatory vaccines required for entry into Zanzibar. (We always recommend checking with your doctor or CDC guidelines for optional travel health precautions.)

Visa: Yes, U.S. citizens need a visa to enter Tanzania. The cost is $100, and you can easily apply for it online (electronic visa) closer to the trip.

Welcome to Zanzibar Stampers!
Today you’ll land on the island and be greeted by our UFC staff, who will escort you to the hotel where you can relax, settle in, and get ready for an unforgettable week ahead.
Tonight, we kick things off with the first ever Black2Zanzibar “Coming to Africa” Welcome Dinner ,a Met Gala–inspired evening celebrating culture, style, and community.
Dinner Theme: Afrocentric Slay
Think: over-the-top red carpet looks, bold jewelry, statement pieces, and afrocentric hairstyles. This will be a night to remember and the perfect way to set the tone for our journey together.
⚠️ Travel Tip: We highly recommend arriving the night before (June 17) in case of flight delays, so you don’t miss this iconic welcome dinner. Once you book, we’ll share more details to help you plan.

We’re closing out the Black2Zanzibar Festival in true Zanzibar style, with an epic day at a private beach club on the shores of the Indian Ocean.

Today is all about choice. You can spend the day exploring Zanzibar at your own pace, wander through Stone Town, relax on the beach, enjoy local food, or simply recharge and soak up the island’s beauty.
For those looking for an extra adventure, this is your chance to add on an optional safari experience (available to select during trip signup before checkout). Imagine seeing elephants, lions, giraffes, and more up close in their natural habitat—an unforgettable bucket-list moment.

Community Giveback + Spice & Culture Experience 🌱❤️
This day is all about connection, culture, and giving back.
We’ll start the morning with a community service project, visiting a local orphanage to spend time with the kids and/or supporting a period poverty drive to provide essential supplies for local girls. It’s a meaningful opportunity to make a difference and leave a positive impact in Zanzibar.
In the afternoon, we’ll dive into the island’s famous spice culture with a spice farm visit.
You’ll learn about the spices that have made Zanzibar world-renowned, followed by a hands-on cooking class with local mamas, where you’ll prepare and enjoy authentic Swahili dishes together.

History, Reflection & Market Shopping 🕊️🛍️
Today we’ll take time to honor and reflect on the history that connects us all. Our journey begins at the Slave Museum and former slave market in Stone Town, where you’ll learn about the often-overlooked East African slave trade. You’ll walk through the grounds, see the memorials, and even step inside one of the underground slave cells, a sobering but powerful reminder of resilience and strength.
After this moving experience, we’ll lighten the day with some local market shopping. From handmade crafts to fabrics, spices, and souvenirs, you’ll have the chance to support local artisans and bring home treasures that capture the spirit of Zanzibar.

Today we’re heading to Nakupenda Sandbank, one of Zanzibar’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Surrounded by crystal-clear waters, this sandbank is the perfect spot for a day of relaxation, fun, and ocean vibes.
You’ll enjoy a fresh seafood lunch with soft drinks, then have plenty of time to:
