Embark on a guided city tour, delving into the rich history
and cultural heritage of Addis Ababa. Visit the National Museum, where you'll come
face-to-face with Lucy, the famous hominid fossil that sheds light on human evolution.
Immerse yourself in the captivating displays at the Ethnological Museum, showcasing
the diverse cultures and traditions of Ethiopia's various ethnic groups.

The afternoon takes a turn towards meaningful interaction as you
participate in a community service activity. We will visit a local school or visit an orphanage and offer companionship or assistance. These acts of kindness provide a deeper connection with the local people and a chance to give back to the community.

Today we will take a domestic flight to Hawasa but before we do we will have a traditional coffee ceremony and learn about the traditional brewing method using a jebena, a black clay pot. You'll be able to observe the preparation of the strong coffee and the burning of fragrant incense that adds to the ambiance.

Following the enriching coffee ceremony, you'll take flight to Hawassa, a picturesque
city nestled on the shores of Lake Hawassa, a jewel of the Great Rift Valley. Upon arrival, prepare to be captivated by the stunning natural landscape.
​
Hawassa boasts a surprising array of bars and clubs catering to diverse preferences. If you're not too tired you can mingle with locals and fellow travelers, move to the rhythm of Ethiopian music, and experience the city's infectious energy.

Your Ethiopian adventure takes a vibrant turn as you embark on a lively boat trip on
the shores of Lake Hawassa. The morning unfolds with a festive atmosphere as you
board the vessel, ready for a party on the water. Enjoy a delicious spread of food prepared with fresh local ingredients. This boat party provides a wonderful opportunity to mingle with the group.
Keep your eyes peeled for the diverse wildlife that calls Lake
Hawassa home. You might catch a glimpse of graceful hippos emerging from the
water or be captivated by the vibrant colors of various bird species soaring overhead.

As high noon approaches, you'll journey to the historic town of Shashemene, also known as the RASTA VILLAGE, nestled amidst rolling hills. This town holds a special significance, known as a haven for Rastafarians and members of the African diaspora who settled here following land grants by Emperor Haile Selassie.

Step into the Shashemene Banana Art Gallery and prepare to be awestruck by the unique artistic expression on display. This gallery showcases a
remarkable collection of art pieces created using banana leaves, a testament to the
creativity and resourcefulness of the local community.

dwellings. Towering above the landscape, these woven structures offer a fascinating

intricate patterns on looms, while men tend to their crops using traditional methods.

As the day progresses, you'll delve into the rich heritage of the Konso people, whose

As you approach Turmi, the main town in the south Omo Valley, the anticipation builds.

Today, you'll have the privilege of encountering the Hamer tribe, renowned for their
vibrant culture and unique traditions. Stepping into a Hamer village is like stepping back in time.
Mud and stick dwellings cluster together, forming a sense of community. Women
adorned with intricate beadwork and elaborate hairstyles go about their daily tasks,
while children play amidst the lively atmosphere. Your guide will help bridge any
cultural gaps and ensure a respectful interaction with the tribe

As the Ethiopian sun rises, casting a warm glow over the Omo Valley, your day unfolds with a visit to the intriguing Mursi people. Famed for their distinctive lip plates worn by women, the Mursi culture offers a glimpse into a way of life deeply connected to tradition.

The Mursi tribe, particularly the women, are widely
recognized for their lip plates. These large clay discs inserted into the lower lip hold
cultural significance and are often seen as a mark of beauty, social status, and
readiness for marriage.
​
As the afternoon arrives, it's time to bid farewell to the Omo Valley and its captivating
tribes. You'll be transferred to the airport for your return flight to Addis Ababa, the
bustling capital city of Ethiopia.

Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, you'll be transferred to your hotel.
This vibrant city offers a delightful contrast to the rural landscapes you've explored.
Depending on your preference, the rest of the afternoon can be spent unwinding at
the hotel or venturing out for a final shopping.
